Today is a day we will never forget. August 16, 2007...the day we finally got to bring our baby boy home with us! While he still has a week before he is supposed to be born, it has been 8 weeks since the journey began! Boy have we learned a lot in those 8 weeks! We can impress people with all kinds of new exciting medical terms and phrases. We've learned that grams, millimeters, and Celsius are used more often in America than one might think. NICU nurses: Crazy Cool and very hard to leave. The amount of love you have for your child is not proportionate to their size. Despite great advancements in diapers, babies can still poop up their backs. Babies do indeed come with instructions. We were given a 10 page pamphlet before leaving the hospital. (The question now is, "Is 10 pages enough?") Babies should come with a washing machine or some very trendy disposable clothes. Insurance companies happily pay in full for the oxygen supply when you bring home a baby on oxygen. However, there is a hefty rental fee for the equipment that takes the oxygen out of the air in our house. Thank You Independent Health for letting us have the oxygen in our house for free! The miracle of life truly is an incredible miracle that happens right under our noses each and every day. Out of all the things we have learned, we value most the fact that God is good, God is faithful, and God truly does sustain!
The adventure that lies ahead of us is like none other and we cannot be happier to finally be on our way!
